Despite Health Care Reform, many people will still lack access to coverage

Of primary interest to new grads is that children can be covered on a parent’s policy until age 26, even if they’re no longer students. This expanded access may be helpful to many, but consider the following:

• Coverage on a parent’s policy may be expensive
• Parental coverage may have network or geographic limitations

The effects of health care reform will begin in the fall of 2010 and may not impact many employer plans until policy renewals after the fall. Unless your insurer and employer have chosen to accelerate the effective date, you may need to seek alternatives if you need coverage sooner.

Don’t risk going without health insurance, especially when affordable options are available. Most products are available to family members as well.
